Grandmas are from Heaven

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

A big Thank You to Grandmas Inger and Lorraine. Their tireless devotion and round-the-clock duty have been phenomenal. I can only hope Leslie and I show the same enthusiasm and love when Isaac and Owen give us grandkids… Probably in another 16 years…

Love,

Grandmas

Non-stop party around the clock

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

It’s Sunday, which means our little guys have been home for a week now. What an amazing amount of work! But everytime I look at their little faces, I melt. Even if it’s at 4am and they just finished screaming.

Leslie is breast-feeding them every 2 hours, which means waking them up (10 minutes), mom feeding both at the same time (another 30-40 minutes), dad burping and changing each one (another 10 minutes), then hopefully they’ll go back to sleep. Which means we have 1 more hour until the next feeding. We’re lucky if we can squeeze in that 1 hour of sleep.

It seems that just when you close your eyes, the feeding alarm goes off and it’s back once again.

I’ve learned that newborns are fairly simple creatures. If they’re crying, it usually means one of 4 things: diaper, burping, hungry or they just want to be held. We’re getting better figuring out which one it is.

In one of our many books this is called the ‘larvae’ phase. In another few months they start telling us more, and I’m sure it gets more complicated each month for the next 30 years.

More work, more reward.

Love,
Proud Papa

Babies Announcement

Welcome home Isaac & Owen!!!!

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Hi all, sorry for the delay, but we’ve had our hands full with 2 BEAUTIFUL BOYS!!!! They’re happy, healthy and the cutest little things I’ve ever seen.

Issac Lian Pave was born Thursday at 11:12am, 6lbs. 14oz.

Owen Lucas Pave was born 1 minute later at 6lbs. 11oz.

Leslie’s my hero and I’ve never loved her more.

The morning we arrived in the hospital she went into labor (typical Pave boys running late). So the doctors were very happy she didn’t have to be induced. But it wasn’t easy, Leslie was in labor for 30 hours when Dr. Kendrick determined they were both trying to get out at the same time. The only way they were coming home was through caesarean, for the health of the babies we didn’t have any other options.

It couldn’t have gone more smoothly even though it was the most difficult thing we’ve ever had to go through. I was reassured when, in the middle of the surgery, the doctors started talking about their weekend plans and joking around.

Now we’re home and working off very little sleep. I’ll write more soon, but for now take a look at the new family!

Kaiser called just now, 6:05AM, and said to come on in. So…here…we…go! Wahoo! Pave twins arriving shortly. Please stand by.

Goin’ in tomorrow

Hi all,

Well, I can’t believe the day is already here. Tomorrow morning bright and early we’re going into the hospital for induction. Wish us luck!

6 more days, at the most.

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

We just heard from the doctor that I will get induced on Wednesday the 14th if labor hasn’t started by then. 6 more days. I am pretty tired and achy, but I am so happy that the twins are well and this is almost over. Thank you so much for your calls and emails. I will try to get back to you when I have some energy, and we will keep this blog updated with news as we have it.

Simple pleasures

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

While we’re waiting for the storks to arrive, simple pleasures abound:

Spontanious ‘baby attack’ on our front lawn. Everyone’s cheering for Leslie.

The Nursery

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

Here is the nursery we put together for the twins. It’s ready as soon as they are. I am 37 weeks today and all is well. I am getting impatient, but the twins have at least another week before the doctors start talking about inducing. I doubt we will get that far.
